Free Licence
The licence terms that govern the free tier of GS_Play.
The terms that govern the free tier of GS_Play — the gems, source, and documentation available at no charge.
Premium terms are separate
A separate premium tier is planned, with its own Licence Notice and EULA. Those
terms will be published alongside these under Legal & Press, not folded into
this section. Nothing on these pages governs premium use, and nothing in the
premium terms will retroactively change the free tier for a release you already
hold.1 - Free Licence Notice
The GS_Play free-tier Licence Notice - a plain-language summary of your licence.
Not yet published
The GS_Play free-tier Licence Notice is being finalized and will be published
here. Until it is, nothing on this page grants or describes a licence, and no
earlier document should be treated as the current terms.
For licensing questions in the meantime — commercial use, studio deployment,
bundling, or redistribution — get in touch and choose
Licensing.
Scope
This notice covers the free tier of GS_Play only. The premium tier is governed by its own separate Licence Notice and EULA, published under Legal & Press when available.
What this page will cover
When published, the Licence Notice will be a plain-language summary of the free-tier End User Licence Agreement — what you may do with the GS_Play gems and their source, what you may do with the games and projects you build using them, and the restrictions that apply. It will be a summary only. Where the summary and the EULA differ, the EULA controls.
What is not in question
Two points hold regardless of the final terms, and are worth stating now:
- Your projects are yours. Genome Studios does not acquire ownership of your games, assets, code, builds, or configurations merely because you built them with GS_Play.
- O3DE is governed separately. GS_Play is a third-party gem suite for the Open 3D Engine. The engine is licensed under Apache 2.0 by the Open 3D Foundation, and nothing in the GS_Play licence changes or restricts your rights to it. See o3de.org/license.
2 - Free End User Licence Agreement
The GS_Play free-tier End User Licence Agreement from Genome Studios Inc.

The GS_Play free-tier End User Licence Agreement is being finalized and will be
published here in full. Until it is, this page states no terms, and no earlier
or third-party agreement should be treated as governing GS_Play.

Scope
This agreement covers the free tier of GS_Play only. The premium tier will be governed by its own separate End User Licence Agreement, published under Legal & Press when available.
