Branding Guidelines

How to use the GS_Play name, logo, and colours when you write about or reference GS_Play.

The short version

If you are reviewing, teaching, reporting on, or streaming GS_Play, you already have permission — go ahead. You do not need our approval, and you may monetize it. The rules below matter when you deliberately use our logo or wordmark in your own promotional material.

Using the GS_Play name

  • “GS_Play” is written with a capital G, capital S, an underscore, and a capital P. Not “GSPlay”, not “GS Play”, not “gs_play”, not “GS_PLAY”.
  • Refer to the product as GS_Play or the GS_Play framework. Its descriptive name is the O3DE Gameplay Framework.
  • Individual gems keep their own casingGS_Core, GS_Unit, GS_PhantomCam, GS_Cinematics, and so on. Underscore, no space, internal capitals as documented.
  • Do not use GS_Play, or anything confusingly similar, as the name of your own product, service, gem, or company.
  • Do not incorporate GS_Play into your own logo, wordmark, domain name, or social handle in a way that suggests it is ours or that we back it.

Accurate, factual references are always fine — “built with GS_Play”, “GS_Play tutorial”, “a review of GS_Play”. Saying your game uses GS_Play is a statement of fact and needs nothing from us.

Approved logo forms

The GS_Play brand is supplied as a logo-and-wordmark lockup in four colourways. Use the one that suits your background:

ColourwayUse it on
Navy on transparentLight backgrounds — the default for print and light-mode layouts
White on transparentDark backgrounds — the default for dark-mode layouts and video
Black on transparentSingle-colour print, and anywhere navy would not reproduce
Gold on transparentAccent use on deep navy or black, where the mark is decorative rather than identifying

Use the supplied artwork as-is. Do not rebuild, retrace, approximate, or set the wordmark yourself in a substitute typeface.

What you may not do with brand assets

GS_Play brand assets may not be:

  • modified, distorted, stretched, rotated, or otherwise altered;
  • recoloured beyond the four supplied colourways, including tinting, gradients, or duotone treatments;
  • animated, or given effects such as shadows, glows, or bevels;
  • combined or locked up with another logo to form a new mark;
  • used as the primary source identifier for your own product, service, or gem, without our written approval.

You also may not remove or obscure copyright, trademark, or attribution notices, and you may not state or imply that Genome Studios sponsors, endorses, certifies, or is affiliated with you or your work unless we’ve agreed to it in writing.

Colour palette

These are the colours GS_Play uses today. Match these values when you need GS_Play’s colours in a layout.

ColourHexRole
Navy#184172Primary — buttons, links, headings
Sky#5097CCSecondary accent
Gold#F4D13DHighlight accent
Navy dark#051323Dark base surface
Navy darkest#030A12Deepest surface
Cream#F7F5EBLight base surface

The palette is for surrounding layout, not for restyling the mark. Use one of the four supplied logo colourways rather than recolouring the artwork into a palette value yourself.

Screenshots, video, and streams

You may capture, publish, and monetize screenshots and recordings of GS_Play — the O3DE Editor with GS_Play tools open, the gem components in the inspector, the Dialogue Editor and graph tools, and games running on the framework. No approval needed, and no special treatment required.

Two asks, both practical rather than legal: show a current version where you can, and if you’re demonstrating something that has since changed, say which version you captured. The current framework version is 0.6.0.

GS_Play and O3DE are different things

GS_Play is an independent, third-party gem suite for O3DE. It is not an official O3DE product, and it is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Open 3D Foundation, the Linux Foundation, or the O3DE project. Please don’t describe it as official, bundled, or endorsed.

Open 3D Engine, O3DE, and related names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners, and nothing here grants any right to use them. If you need to use the O3DE name or marks alongside ours, follow the O3DE branding guidelines.
